THINGS TO TAKE TO CHINA
Ok, your agency will most likely give you a list of things they recommend you take to China with you, so I'm not covering everything. These are things that were not on our list, but that we were glad we took with us. and, I'm sure I'll think of a few things I wish we had.
• Crystal Light Hydration Powder in the single-serve packets. You may need your electrolytes.
• Safety Pins - Something tears ... your child's clothes are too big ... these have to go in your checked bags though.
• An Open Mind - You're not in America anymore. Personal space is different, verbal intonations may sound harsh , or even angry, to western ears and its not unusual for someone to move on past the confused "tourists." (Oh, wait people do that last one here, too.) Overall, the people of China are very polite and friendly, you just have to learn to go with the flow ... and the flow is typically very fast. Just like here, the local folks know where they are, what they want and how to get there ... and you're generally going to be slow and in their way (especially with your baby and all of his, or her, stuff in tow). Just step aside for a minute until you get your bearings and everyone will get along.
